Knitting and Crochet Tech Editing
Have peace of mind that your patterns are technically correct, make sense and are easy to follow!
What is Knitting and Crochet Tech Editing?
Knitting and crochet Technical editing is the process of thoroughly checking a pattern from the very top to the very bottom. We check the technical side, as in, ensuring the pattern is correct, and will make the item it is supposed to make, but also proofread the pattern, and ensuring the pattern is consistent and to style (if there is a style guide given)
This isn’t an exhaustive list, but here is an example of some of things I check:
Technical Checks:
- All stitch counts calculated are correct
- All row or round counts calculated are correct
- The item created will be the dimensions given with the size description
- Any associated charts, diagrams and schematics are checked
Formatting Checks:
- Ensuring the pattern matches the style guide (if provided)
- Ensure the pattern is formatted in an easy to read and understandable style
- Ensure all abbreviations are listed
- Ensure any instructions for construction are listed if necessary
Proofreading
- Spelling, grammar and punctuation
